Message from Mayor Annise Parker - Haiti Earthquake Disaster - How You Can Help Words cannot express the pain in my heart for those affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. My prayers and thoughts are with them. There are many opportunities available for those wanting to assist with the immediate relief effort. You can donate to the Red Cross here: Contribute online to the Red Cross, or donate $10 to be charged to your cell phone bill by texting "HAITI" to "90999." More ways to help are available through the Center for International Disaster Information. (Please be patient, so many people are wanting to help that this site is taking awhile to load.) This same information is listed on the White House web site. These organizations are working in cooperation with the military and other agencies to coordinate the federal relief effort. They are the ones with the mechanisms in place to take donations at this time.
Respectfully, Annise D. Parker Mayor

University Oaks is a community of approximately 240 homes located in the heart of Houston. The neighborhood was first platted in 1939 and developed on land formerly owned by Ben Taub. We are a diverse community nestled next to the main campus of the University of Houston, just north of Brays Bayou. The University Oaks Civic Club is our homeowners association. Participation in neighborhood events sponsored by the Civic Club as well as by residents is welcomed and encouraged. Civic Club meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month. Consult your newsletter or this website for the location of upcoming meetings and events. The Civic Club usually does not meet during the summer months of June, July and August. Once a year in May the Civic Club sponsors Breakfast on the Bayou, a pleasant gathering of neighbors for coffee and food in the park area adjacent to the bayou. - Cindy Yepez, UOCC President and Webmaster
